Anne HollingworthAnne Hollingworth

In 2008, Anne Hollingworth became our ywca encore ambassador.

Anne is a breast cancer survivor and former participant of ywca encore who received many benefits from the program.

Anne is also a former physiotherapist who specialised in geriatrics, women's health and orthopedics.

Many women choose to participate in ywca encore after their formal treatment is over and before their first check up.  Anne has said about ywca encore:

There are many women during this phase of recovery who feel very isolated and respond to a program that includes physical recovery, an active lifestyle and the emotional psychological side of recovery.

News

In the past 25 years approximately 6,000 women around Australia have completed the ywca encore program.

History of YWCA Encore

ywca encore was originally developed in the USA in the 1970s by a ballet teacher who had experienced breast cancer and saw the need to help other women with similar experiences to rebuild their physical and emotional strength. The program was set up and expanded through YWCA USA.

ywca encore came to Australia in 1983 and 2008 saw ywca encore celebrate 25 years in Australia. The ywca encore program also operates in New Zealand, the USA, Canada and Japan.
